Ava Roberts Joins Track & Field's 2024 Signing Class

DENTON, Texas – The UNT Track & Field program announced Ava Roberts as the seventh member of the 2024 signing class Wednesday.
Roberts was a UIL State qualifier in both the shot put and discus as a junior. She won the 2023 District 23-5A championship in both events, hitting a personal best 42-6.75 in the shot put at the meet. She placed seventh at the state meet in shot put and fifth in discus with a personal-best mark of 138-7. She also advanced to the state meet as a sophomore and took seventh in the shot put.
A thrower from Pflugerville, Texas, Roberts is the second female to sign with the Mean Green along with Bolaji Subair. The 2024 signing class now consists of three females, including Maggie Cuppett, while the men's team has a foursome of distance runners in Joseph Weinen, Logan Tauch, Nolan House and Matthew Montgomery.
