DENTON, Texas – On Senior Day at the UNT Volleyball Center, the Mean Green suffered a 3-0 defeat against Memphis on Sunday afternoon.
"Every game is going to be tough for us in this conference," head coach Kristee Porter said. "It doesn't matter what record any team has; you never overlook anyone."
The Mean Green (8-11, 5-3) dropped its seventh three-set loss (24-26, 16-25, 21-25) of the season, the most in a single season since it lost eight in 2021, against the Tigers (10-10, 4-4) on Sunday. After results were finalized around the league, UNT remained tied for third place in the American Athletic Conference.
For the eighth match this season, senior Coco Gillett led the offense 11 kills on 24 attacks including four kills in the third set.
Junior Payton Van Veen led the match with 13 points after she posted 10 kills, two aces and two block assists. She has tallied double-digit point totals in seven of eight conference matches this season.
