Soccer Battles To 1-1 Draw At Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — The UNT soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at Charlotte Thursday night.
The Mean Green (7-5-4, 3-3-2) got their goal from senior Rachel Roebuck who converted a penalty kick in the 50th minute. It is her team leading eighth goal of the year and second converted penalty kick this season.
Roebuck's goal put her Mean Green side up 1-0. The lead lasted until the 77th minute when the 49ers (2-7-7, 1-2-5) leveled the score.
North Texas' defense fended off a barrage of Charlotte opportunities throughout the 90-minute match. Charlotte took 20 shots, which is the second-most an opponent has taken on UNT all year.
The draw gives the Mean Green 11 points in the league standings and has them in fifth place, at the time of the conclusion of the match. UNT hosts Memphis on Sunday at 6 p.m. CT for its final home match of the year. They then will travel to UAB next Thursday to conclude the regular season. The top eight teams in the league standings earn a trip to the American Athletic Conference Championship.
