Women’s Basketball Set to Take On Santa Clara Sunday

DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball team will look to extend its winning streak to three games on its final road trip of the nonconference slate against Santa Clara Sunday at 4 p.m. CT.
The Mean Green rebounded from their loss at New Mexico on Dec. 4 with a pair of blowout wins in The Super Pit. Ereauna Hardaway set a new career high for points scored in both games, leading UNT to an 83-65 victory over Tennessee State and an 87-54 rout of Southern Illinois. Hardaway's career performances earned her a spot on the AAC's weekly honor roll, marking the fourth conference honor of the season for North Texas.
Sitting at 7-2 on the season, a win over Santa Clara would tie the program's second-best start through 10 games in program history. Six teams have accomplished the feat, while last season's 9-1 start will remain the singular best record through 10 games.
Santa Clara (5-4) is led by Olivia Pollerd who averages 17.8 points per game this season and was a First Team All-WCC selection a year ago. Pollerd is one of a few Broncos who were a part of last season's team that posted the program's second winningest season ever in the 2023-24 campaign, which included 25 wins and a trip to the second round of the WBIT.
Sunday's contest will be the first meeting between the schools and will be streamed on ESPN+. The game can also be heard on the Varsity Network with Zac Babb on the call.

ANYBODY ON ANY NIGHT
• UNT women's basketball had never had three players score 20+ points in a game until Nov. 4, 2024 against Alcorn State.
• Kyla Deck (27), Tommisha Lampkin (23) and Desiree Wooten (20) became the first trio to accomplish the feat in program history

• Following Ereauna Hardaway's 21-point performance against Southern Illinois, UNT is one of just 10 teams in the country with five different 20-point scorers this season, as of Dec. 9.
• To put the versatility of UNT's scoring into perspective, the Mean Green had a 20-point performance 18 times in the 2023-24 season with only three of them not coming from Tommisha Lampkin or DesiRay Kernal.
