DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball wraps up a stretch of three games in seven days on Saturday when it hosts Southern Illinois at 2 p.m. CT inside The Super Pit.
The Mean Green split the two games earlier this week with a loss at New Mexico Sunday before bouncing back in an 83-65 victory over Tennessee State on Wednesday. Tommisha Lampkin led the way against TSU with her fifth double double of the season in a 22-point, 10-rebound performance, while Ereauna Hardaway posted a career-high 18 points. The win was also a milestone for head coach Jason Burton as he collected the 200th victory of his head coaching career.
North Texas now turns its attention to a Southern Illinois team that is 2-4 on the season. The Salukis are led by forward Gift Uchenna who has been one of the best frontcourt players in the country early in the season averaging 16.0 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.
Saturday's meeting will be just the second time UNT and SIU have ever played and the first matchup at The Super Pit. North Texas got the better of Southern Illinois in Carbondale last season in a 79-73 win on Nov. 19, 2023.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Sam Kaman and Brian Burton on the call and can also be heard on the Varsity Network App with Zac Babb.
Fans attending Saturday's game are encouraged to park in Lot 26 due to a high school football game at DATCU Stadium. Parking in Lot 20 will be $10, however fans going to the basketball game can still park in the lot at no cost by showing their game ticket.
