
Mean Green Fall against No. 49 Grand Canyon

UNT drops to 6-5 overall this season
DENTON, Texas – Facing off with a top-50 opponent for the second consecutive day, the UNT women's tennis team fell 4-0 Saturday against No. 49 Grand Canyon at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
The Mean Green grabbed one set in three of the six singles matches and took home a victory at line two doubles but were unable to come up with a match win as they fell to 6-5 on the season.
The Lopes, meanwhile, pushed their winning streak to six straight matches and improved to 9-1 overall this year.
Lilly Schultz and Lou Chalard continued their strong doubles play at line two, winning 6-2 to improve their record as a duo this season to 7-3.
GCU was able to grab wins at lines one and three, however, to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Stanislava Shulzhenko, Olivia Halvorsen and Marina Adati were all able to pick up a set in their respective matches but could not come away with the overall win.
Grand Canyon won at line one 6-1, 6-2, at line three 6-2, 6-4 and at line two 6-0, 5-7, 6-1 to take the match 4-0.
UNT will return to action next Saturday, March 2 for a doubleheader against No. 61 UTSA and Cowley County CC starting at 11:00 AM against the Roadrunners at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
It will be two of the final three home matches of the season for the Mean Green as they play nine of their final 10 matches away from Denton.
