IRVING, Texas - The UNT women's golf team had four players selected to the American Athletic Conference All-Conference team, the league announced on Wednesday.
In UNT's first season in the conference, the Mean Green had the most representation on the team, as the next highest was three each for Tulsa and SMU. Teams were chosen by taking the top-10 nationally ranked players in the conference and adding players not in that group of 10 who finished in the top seven at the conference tournament last week.
Seniors Shreya Pal, Emilie Ricaud and Ellie Roth all made the team by their national rankings, while sophomore Mason Lewis earned a spot with her T5 finish at the conference championship last week.
"It is very exciting to see four of our players named to the All-Conference team," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "We had a very solid year and were led by six different players throughout the season. We really don't have a true No. 1 player like most teams have. We have a lot of very good players."
Ricaud, the team's only fifth-year player, led the team in scoring average this season with a stroke average of 72.43 and a season-best finish of T9 at the Nexus Collegiate in The Bahamas. She also tied for 10th in the one round of stroke play at The Match Play at Jimmie Austin Golf Club, which was hosted by Oklahoma just before the AAC Championship. It marks Ricaud's second career All-Conference honor, as she earned a second-team nod last year in Conference USA.
Roth's stroke average came in just behind Ricaud's with a 72.67. She won the Nexus Collegiate for her first collegiate victory, tied for seventh at the season-opening Sam Golden Invitational, when the team shattered its school records for low team 18-hole score and low team 54-hole score, and tied for eighth in the one round of stroke play at The Match Play at Jimmie Austin Golf Club. The honor is Roth's third career All-Conference honor, as she earned first-team honors last year in C-USA and a second-team nod in 2022.
Pal has a season stroke average of 72.90 and had three top-10 showings this year - a T5 finish at the Sam Golden Invitational, T10 at the Schooner Fall Classic and T3 at The Match Play at Jimmie Austin Golf Club. It marks Pal's second career All-Conference honor, as she earned a third-team nod last year in Conference USA.
Lewis posted a stroke average this season of 73.90 but posted two T5 showings - at the AAC Championship and at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in the fall. Her selection is her first career All-Conference honor.
"It is exciting to see our seniors go out on a high note, and I am thrilled how we have played very good this year despite the graduation of Audrey (Tan) and Patty (Sinolungan) last year," Akers said. "I liked the comment made on ESPN during our conference championship when they said we didn't rebuild, we just reloaded."
