DENTON, Texas – The UNT track and field team will conclude its regular season schedule at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout in Lubbock, Texas on Friday and Saturday.
With a threat of inclement weather in the West Texas area, the majority of the meet hosted at Texas Tech University will be completed on Friday before wrapping up action on Saturday.
The javelin throw will be the first event of the meet beginning at noon on Friday. Vitus Hansgaard, Akeel Hanchard and Phil Cotton will represent the men's group that is ranked No. 18 in the country according to USTFCCCA, while Mackenzie Kuehl and Makayla Roy will throw for the women.
Hammer throw, pole vault, high jump and long jump will also be contested Friday evening with the remainder of the field events scheduled for Saturday.
Running events are slated to begin with the 4x100-meter relay Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Mean Green will not travel their distance runners to the meet and therefore will be nearly done with track events by the end of the night on Friday should the meet stay on schedule. Multi-event athlete Phil Cotton will be the lone runner for North Texas on Saturday as he competes in the men's 1,500 meters for the first time in his collegiate career.
After having a weekend off while UNT competed at the Michael Johnson Invitational, sprinters Samir Williams, Jaylen Washington and Jared Johnson will return to the track for their final tune-ups before the conference meet.
Live results for the Corky/Crofoot Shootout will be provided by Primetime Timing.
