Mean Green host Apaches to close home schedule
DENTON, Texas – After playing away from home for over a month, the UNT tennis team returns to Waranch Tennis Complex for its final home contest of the season Thursday when they host Tyler Junior College at 4:00 PM.
The contest will be the final home match of the season for the Mean Green before playing the final three contests on the road before the American Athletic Conference Tournament kicks off in Dallas April 17th.
UNT heads into the matchup 9-10 overall looking to snap a two-match losing skid. It will be the 10th home match of the season as the Mean Green look to improve to 7-3 at Waranch on the year.
In doubles play, UNT had dropped the doubles point in back-to-back matches for the first time this season. In total, North Texas has a 12-7 mark in doubles points this season.
The Mean Green have had consistent production from its entire lineup all season in singles with three players who have won eight singles matches in dual play. Carolina Laydner leads the way an 8-3 record while Lou Chalard and Stadfany Nformi also. have eight wins apiece.
TJC comes into Thursday's matchup at 7-6 overall. The lone common match for the two teams came against Cowley County CC. The Apaches dropped an 8-1 decision against Cowley while the Mean Green won their matchup 7-0.
Thursday's matchup will also be the final contest against a non-conference foe for the Mean Green as they close their season against AAC opponents Tulane, Tulsa and Temple.
