DENTON, Texas – Icey Green, a two-time All-American in the junior college ranks, has announced her decision to join the UNT track and field program for the 2024-25 season.
Green has spent the last two seasons at Fort Scott Community College, helping lead the Greyhounds to their best season in school history. She was named the Female Field Athlete of the Year for Fort Scott in 2023 after earning her first All-America honor with a fourth-place finish in the long jump at the NJCAA Indoor Championships.
As a sophomore, Green took sixth in the pentathlon at the indoor championships for the second All-America finish in her career. She totaled a school record 2,993 points, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the long jump and a personal-best time in the 800 meters.
Green also holds the school record in the 400-meter hurdles, which she set at the Zach Kindler Wildcat Open in 2023 with a time of 1:05.75.
After competing as a multi-event athlete at the junior college level, Green will primarily focus on the horizontal jumps for the Mean Green.
"I'm excited about Icey," head coach Doug Marshall said. "She has a different mentality. -She's going to be a strong competitor in the American for jumps. I love where her mentality is at as a whole and am excited to add her to the program."
The Channelview, Texas, native is the 10th member of the 2024 signing class for Marshall and his staff.
