Track & Field Signs Junior College Transfer Nehemiah Ray

DENTON, Texas – The UNT track and field program added another signee to its 2024 class on Wednesday with the addition of Nehemiah Ray.
Ray will arrive in Denton following one season at Valparaiso and one at Indian Hill Community College. He last competed during the 2022-23 season at Indian Hills where he was a teammate of fellow UNT signee, Chris Johnson.
Ray primarily ran the shorter sprints while being a consistent member of the 4x100-meter relay team in the outdoor season. In his lone season at Indian Hills, Ray was a national qualifier in the 200 meters and helped lead the relay team to a sixth-place finish at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He also set a personal best in the 100 meters at the Region XI Championships placing fifth with a time of 10.61.
He transferred to Indian Hills after spending his true freshman season at Valparaiso University. Ray turned in the third-fastest indoor 200-meter dash time in program history at 22.27 and the fourth-fastest outdoor 200 meters time at 21.63.
