Steve Keasler Named Senior Assoc. AD for NIL and General Manager

DENTON, Texas – UNT Vice President and Director of Athletics Jared Mosley has announced an addition of veteran athletics administrator Steve Keasler has been named the Senior Associate Athletic Director for NIL and General Manager.
"As the college athletics landscape continues to evolve, specifically with Name, Image, and Likeness, we have evaluated multiple structures and strategies to support NIL operations and the third-party relationships for our athletic department," Mosley said. "We will continue to be flexible with our plans moving forward, but this addition of Steve to our staff is a great launching point for the Mean Green as we continue to provide the best experience for our student-athletes and generous supporters."
A veteran of more than 30 years in college and high school athletics, Keasler joins UNT after spending the last six years as the Executive Director of Athletics at Carroll ISD in Southlake, Texas.
In this newly created role, Keasler will work to manage, organize, and advance NIL opportunities for all Mean Green student-athletes.
"I am excited about the incredible opportunity in the rapidly developing landscape of college athletics," Keasler said. "I appreciate the opportunity and trust of Jared Mosley, Connor Smith, and coach Eric Morris. Go Mean Green!"
In his time with the Dragons, Keasler helped Southlake Carroll win the UIL 6A Lone Star Cup in 2019, 2023 and 2024 as the top athletic department in the state. In total, Carroll ISD won 17 UIL State Championships in his six years at the helm.
Keasler helped form the Carroll Athletic Hall of Honor, Dragon Touchdown Club and served as a committee member on the THSADA. He also served as the 6A Golf Regional and State Director.
He also worked at Carroll High School from 1994-2004, where he was a teacher, assistant coach for both football and basketball and the head girls' and boys' golf coach. He helped the Dragons' golf programs qualify for the state championship in five consecutive seasons from 1999-2003.
Prior to moving to Carroll, Keasler served as the Executive Director of Athletics at Midlothian ISD from 2008-18.
At Midlothian, Keasler served as the District Executive Chairperson for Districts 14-5A and 5-5A. He also led the establishment and launch of the Midlothian ISD Hall of Honor and served as its Executive Director.
Keasler was also an assistant golf coach at the University of Texas from 2004-08. He helped the Longhorns qualify for the NCAA Championship in three of his four seasons, highlighted by an 11th-place finish in 2007.
No stranger to the North Texas region, Keasler also spent time at both Callisburg ISD and Grand Prairie ISD.
Keasler earned an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M-Commerce in 1989 and a master's from TCU in 2001.
