DENTON, Texas — UNT sprinter Jaylen Washington was named the American Athletic Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Washington broke the school record in the 60 meters twice at the Red Raider Invite on Jan. 24. A 6.64 in the preliminary round gave Washington the record, but he followed it up with a 6.57 in the finals to shatter his own personal best and take second place at the meet.
He now has the best time in the American conference, the sixth-fastest time in the nation this season and No. 12 time in the world in 2025.
This is the first American Athletic Conference weekly award for Washington in his career.
