WACO – The UNT women's golf team is set to wrap up the fall season at the Baylor Brawl with 36 holes of action at Ridgewood Country Club Tuesday.
The Mean Green are a week removed from the Jim West Challenge where senior Malisone Chanthapanya broke the program record for lowest round as she shot a 64 (-8) on the third round of the tournament and finished runner up on the individual leaderboard. Chanthapanya shot a 207 (-9) over the three rounds and was one shot off the leader. She broke the single round program record by one stroke.
For the Baylor Brawl the Mean Green will bring all eight women to compete in the single day event.
"We are excited to end our fall season down in Waco," said head coach Michael Akers. "I am very appreciative of the opportunity and for Baylor allowing us to play our entire team. This will give us valuable feedback as we head into the offseason."
Tuesday's event will pair UNT with Baylor, Texas A&M and Stephen F. Austin, Houston Christian and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. East Texas A&M, Houston, UIW, UTRGV and UTA will also be competing at the Baylor Brawl.
"The team is very close to breaking out," Akers said. "Malisone's performance at the Jim West was eye opening but we have yet played our best golf as a team. We are certainly a very good team and just need to get more consistent top to bottom in our lineup."
