Volleyball Drops Five-Set Loss to ACU

DENTON – Mean Green volleyball lost 3-2 (25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 25-27, 13-15) to Abilene Christian on Wednesday night at the UNT Volleyball Center.
UNT (17-6) suffered its first five-set loss this season and its first reverse sweep since Aug. 31, 2023. Despite holding leads in all five sets, the Mean Green failed to put the Wildcats (10-14) away after it took a two-set lead.
"We just didn't have our A-game today," head coach Dave Fleming said. "We knew Abilene Christian was going to be a good team … but we created a lot of confidence on their side of the net. Kudos to them, they did great, they deserved the win and they played better than us tonight."
Fleming cited his team's 47 errors as a key contributor to the result as North Texas were bested in kills, hitting percentage, digs and blocks.
Lilly Croshaw (13), Loredana Fouonji (11), Jahniya Jackson (11) and Reagan Bedell (10) each reached double-digit kills. Freshman Sidney Soria collected 24 assists in her third start of the season while senior Alexa Washington tallied 20 assists and 16 digs for her 13th double-double of the year.
The Mean Green welcome Memphis (10-15, 1-9) to the UNT Volleyball Center on Friday at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can purchase tickets HERE.
