
Volleyball Falls to Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. – UNT volleyball fell 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 15-25, 14-25) at Florida Atlantic on Friday night at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
The Mean Green (11-4, 1-2) picked up the first set over the Owls (11-5, 2-1) before it dropped the next three to mark its first four-set loss of the season. North Texas was held to a season-low .064 hitting percentage with 33 attack errors.
For the second-consecutive match, sophomore opposite hitter Lilly Croshaw led UNT in kills as she tallied 12 on the night. Senior Alexa Washington captured her team-leading seventh double-double as she finished with 18 assists and 15 digs.
In the first, the Owls tied the Mean Green at 17-17 before Washington dropped two kills, a block and an assist as the visitors closed on an 8-2 run, winning the frame 25-19.
North Texas utilized the momentum from the end of the first to build a 19-15 lead in the second set. Florida Atlantic closed with a 10-1 run to steal the set 25-20.
Despite seven unanswered points from the Mean Green at the midpoint of the third set, the Owls dominated the frame. Croshaw drove the rush with two kills and two blocks which cut UNT's deficit to 16-14. In response, FAU closed the set on a 9-1 run for the 25-15 victory.
Florida Atlantic posted a 25-14, wire-to-wire fourth set victory to close out the American Conference win.
UNT travels to South Florida (6-7, 2-0) on Sunday at noon CT for its second match of the weekend. The conference contest will be streamed on ESPN+ from The Corral.
