Mean Green Open American Conference Play at Florida Atlantic

DENTON, Texas – American Conference play gets underway Tuesday for the UNT women's basketball team when it travels to Boca Raton to face Florida Atlantic. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT from Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
The Mean Green enter league play having dropped their last three to end a challenging nonconference slate at 6-6. It won't get any easier with three of the first four conference games being away matchups beginning Tuesday.
North Texas has been the class of the American Conference over the last two seasons, leading all teams with 28 wins in league play since the start of the 2023-24 season when Jason Burton took the reins in Denton. During that time, Burton has guided UNT to a 3-0 record over the Owls, which include two victories in Boca Raton.
However, the Owls have a new look this season in head coach LeAnn Freeland's first year at the helm. Nine of FAU's 10 players who have logged minutes this season average five or more points per game with Vivian Onugha being the top scorer at 9.3 points per contest. The Owls are 3-3 on the season at home and also finished their nonconference schedule at 6-6.
North Texas was selected to finish sixth while Florida Atlantic was tabbed No. 13 in the Preseason American Conference Preseason poll that was voted on by the league's coaches.
