Tennis Goes Down to the Wire in Loss to UNF

North Texas fought, but lost 5-2 to North Florida in Miami, FL
DENTON — The UNT women's tennis team was defeated 5-2 by North Florida Saturday afternoon at PayCargo Tennis Complex in Miami, Florida.
UNF (3-4) took the doubles point to start the match with wins at all three lines.
North Texas (5-4) fought back in singles play, winning at lines two and three to tie the match before the Ospreys won at lines one, four, five and six to clinch victory.
"We were definitely in a battle today," UNT head coach Amanda Stone said. "We are still searching for some things to click and with these types of close matches we need to be firing on all lines."
Stadfany Nformi and Stanislava Shulzhenko picked up the Mean Green's points on the day with wins at lines two and three, respectively.
Nformi won 0-6, 6-1, 7-5 and improved to 5-1 in singles this season. Shulzhenko improved to 6-1 in singles with her 6-1, 0-6, 6-3 victory.
The deciding matches both went down to the wire but ultimately saw Lou Chalard and Lilly Schultz lose close at lines five and six as UNF took the 5-2 victory.
UNT closes the weekend in a matchup with hosts, FIU, Sunday at noon CT. The streaming link for Sunday's match is available at MeanGreenSports.com.
