UNT went 15-1 at The Super Pit this season
DENTON, Texas — The UNT women's basketball team capped off a 15-1 season inside The Super Pit with a 77-56 win over UAB on Senior Day Saturday.
The Mean Green celebrated a senior class that will be remembered for delivering the two winningest seasons in program history. North Texas improved to 22-7 on the season and 14-3 in AAC play, marking the second-most wins in a single season behind last year's 23 wins and the most conference wins in a season in program history surpassing the 13 in 2023-24.
"What an incredible senior day for our four seniors," head coach Jason Burton said. "To be 15-1 at home and not lose a conference game at home is incredibly special. We talk about leaving a legacy and that's what these seniors have done."
Kyla Deck stepped up in the absence of Desiree Wooten, who was unavailable due to an injury she sustained in Wednesday's win over Charlotte. The junior guard came off the bench and tied her season high with 27 points and added three assists and four steals. Deck started 3-of-3 from behind the arc in the first half, while finishing with five 3-pointers on the day.
Jaaucklyn Moore also filled the void of Wooten's absence in the backcourt with 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Moore tied her season high with four 3-pointers, while surpassing 1,500 career points on her senior day.
Despite having her streak of four consecutive double doubles snapped in the win, Tommisha Lampkin was still a dominant force in the paint finishing with 23 points and seven rebounds in her final game in The Super Pit. Fellow senior forward Aniyah Johnson grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Mean Green.
UAB went on a 15-0 run early in the second quarter to take a 21-14 lead, which was its largest of the game. After UNT trailed by one at the break, it outscored the Blazers, 50-28, in the second half to run away with the 21-point victory.
North Texas will take a six-game win streak to Rice to close out the regular season Tuesday at Tudor Fieldhouse with tip-off at 7 p.m. CT.
