Wong Makes 3-Meter Final on Day 1 at Zones

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The UNT contingency at the NCAA Zone D diving championships got underway with the first day of competition on Monday afternoon, and the Mean Green were led by junior Kamryn Wong, who advanced to the 3-meter springboard final before finishing 15th, five spots back of the NCAA Championship qualifying line.
Wong qualified 18th in the prelims with a score of 297.55 to get through to the final, as the Mean Green's next-best finisher in the prelims was sophomore Sydney Guidara, who finished 36th with a score of 261.60. Wong's final qualification marked the first time in program history a diver has made a final at Zones.
Freshmen Valeria Hernandez Meza and Amelia Sharp finished 52nd and 56th, respectively.
The Mean Green will continue Tuesday with the 1-meter springboard, which will feature Wong, Guidara and senior Mackenzie Ferguson. Prelims will begin at noon, with the final set for 3 p.m. Fans can watch the event via livestream here.
