Tennis Set for UTR Women’s NIT Championship

Mean Green are set to face Appalachian State.
DENTON — The UNT women's tennis team is set for their first round match with Appalachian State at the UTR Women's NIT Championship Wednesday in Rome, Georgia.
The Mean Green (11-11) head into the tournament winning five of their last seven matches to close the season.
North Texas fell in the first round of the American Athletic Conference tournament to Tulane.
UNT has four players with double digit singles wins on the season. Stanislava Shulzhenko leads the way with 12 wins, predominantly at line three and is followed by Lou Chalard trails with 11 wins.
The Mountaineers (17-6) are coming off a program-best year which saw them win 17 matches and go on a 10-match winning streak to close their regular season. Appalachian State fell to Troy in the first round of the Sun Belt tournament April 25.
