Soccer In Norman to Face No. 20 Oklahoma

DENTON - The UNT soccer team will hit the road to face a ranked Oklahoma squad in Norman, Oklahoma, on Sunday night at 7 p.m.
UNT (3-2-0) is 3-29-2 all-time against ranked opponents and has a 1-20-0 mark against ranked teams on the road, but the Mean Green will look to break through on Sunday against the 20th-ranked Sooners, who enter the matchup with a perfect 5-0-0 record.
The Mean Green are coming off a 4-0 win over McNeese on Thursday night in a game that was delayed for an hour and 45 minutes due to inclement weather, but once the game started, the Mean Green dominated in every aspect of the game, outshooting the Cowgirls 29-4. In fact, the Mean Green are third nationally in shots per game with 25.8.
So far this season, UNT has been led by captains Mia Bernard (3 goals, 2 assists) and Rachel Roebuck (1 goal, 3 assists), while senior Summer Brown has scored in each of the last two games to join sophomore Claire Niedermeier with two goals on the young season. Bernard, Brown and Niedermeier all scored on Thursday night, along with sophomore Rydlii Rives.
UNT has two goalkeepers with a shutout this season, as sophomore Hicks Bishop blanked Sam Houston, and junior college transfer Alina Arneth earned her first career shutout on Thursday night over McNeese with two saves.
The Mean Green last topped a ranked opponent on Oct. 10, 2003, when they beat No. 21 Denver, 3-2, in two overtimes. They played No. 16 Memphis to a scoreless draw last season in what was Bishop's coming out party with her first career shutout. UNT is 6-4-1 all-time against the Sooners and also holds the advantage in Norman with a 2-1-1 record all-time.
