Win at line one doubles highlights match for Mean Green
DENTON – The UNT tennis program dropped a 4-0 decision to open the 2026 spring season Thursday against Houston.
The Mean Green narrowly dropped the doubles point 2-1 and were unable to pick up a singles victory in the match.
Lilly Schultz and Lou Chalard, one of the top doubles teams in the American Conference last season, started the season with a bang with a 6-4 victory at line one doubles.
Houston bounced back, however, with 6-3 wins at both lines two and three to win the doubles point.
In singles, the Cougars were able to pick up straight set wins at lines three, five and six to end the match.
Before the contest concluded, Carolina Laydner grabbed a set win in the opening set at line two 6-4 and Chalard was tied 4-4 in the second set at line two.
The Mean Green will return to action Friday, Jan. 30th against Rice at 12:00 PM at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
