DENTON — The UNT soccer team is in Greenville, South Carolina, to take on East Carolina in its penultimate road trip of the season, as the Mean Green look to break through and win their first conference match and stay in the running to make the postseason tournament with kickoff set for Thursday night at 6 p.m., in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN+.
UNT (4-6-4, 0-3-3) is coming off a 3-3 road draw at Rice, when the Mean Green got the goals they'd been waiting to see in conference play, including a pair from junior Claire Niedermeier, who now has 11 on the season and was named the American Offensive Player of the Week.
The Mean Green are 0-2-1 in the all-time series with the Pirates (3-4-8, 2-2-3) and lost their only previous meeting in Greenville.
UNT is looking to build some positive momentum with four matches remaining in the regular season. Junior forward Claire Niedermeier has 11 goals in the team's 14 matches this season, while sophomore forward Payton Annis has two goals and three assists on the year, with both goals having come in conference action.
