Mean Green, Chanthapanya Soar In First Round of MountainView Collegiate

TUCSON, Arizona – The UNT women's golf team opened the 2026 MountainView Collegiate Friday with an all-around strong performance as they shot a 282 (-6) and sit in second place of the 16-team tournament held at the Preserve Golf Course in Tucson, Arizona.
Senior Malisone Chanthapanya led the Mean Green through the first round as she shot a 67 (-5), her second-lowest round of the year. Chanthapanya is in a tie for second place on the player leaderboard, three strokes off the leader Alendra Vidal Rivera of Iowa State.
Chanthapanya didn't bogey a single hole Friday and ended her day with a birdie on three of her final four holes as she lifted her Mean Green to their second-place standing.
North Texas teammates Bouqet Subsomboon and freshman Marin Fujiyasu each shot one-under for the round Friday.
The Mean Green are nine strokes off the leader, No. 25 Iowa State, and hold a one stroke lead over UTSA.
The second-round tees of Saturday morning. The tournament wraps up Sunday.
