Track & Field Enjoys Success in Outdoor Opener

FORT WORTH, Texas — The UNT track and field team kicked off outdoor season over the weekend in Fort Worth at the TCU Alumni Invite at Lowdon Track and Field Complex, as the men finished second at the meet and the women finished the fourth.
The men's team took three wins over the two-day meet, as Oluwatimilehim Williams continued his run of success from indoor season with a win in the men's discus to go with a runner-up showing in the shot put, and the Mean Green got wins in both the 4x100 (Hendrick Hundl, Jaylen Washington, Nehemiah Ray, Derrick Warren) and 4x400 (Chris Johnson, Clarence McGill, Makenden Brown, Derrick Warren) relays.
Along with Williams' runner-up showing in the shot put, the men also got seconds from Marcus Kennedy (high jump) and Jason Patrick (hammer throw), and third-place showings from Jeremiah Cams (high jump), Nolan House (5,000 meters), Joseph Wienen (1,500 meters) and Dominique Hall (triple jump).
The women's team had a pair of podium finishes from Mackenzie Kuehl, who won the javelin with a personal-best throw of 50.19 meters, and Ava Roberts, who took third in the shot put with a throw of 14.77 meters.
The Mean Green will head to Austin for the Texas Relays from April 1-4, for their next competition.
