Tennis Drops Road Contest at Tulsa 4-1

UNT wins doubles point for the sixth straight match
TULSA, Okla. – The UNT tennis team snapped its five-match winning streak Sunday on the road as they fell at Tulsa 4-1 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Mean Green started the match with a bang as they won the doubles point but dropped four singles contests and fell for the first time in a true road match this season.
In doubles action, North Texas took home the doubles point for the sixth consecutive match and is now 13-2 in doubles points in the last 15 matches.
Marina Adati and Ujin Batsukh started the scoring for the Mean Green with a strong 6-1 win at line two. The duo remains unbeaten and is now 3-0 on the season.
After Tulsa picked up a win at line one to even the score, Carolina Laydner and Pia Petelinsek clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at line three. Laydner and Petelinsek are now 6-1 as a team this season.
In singles play, the Golden Hurricane were strong throughout the lineup with wins in straight sets at lines one, three, four and five to win the match 4-1.
Playing at line two, Laydner was closing in on a victory before the match was finalized as she led 6-1, 5-3 in her match.
UNT will return to action Friday as they host Liberty at the Waranch Tennis Complex at 3:00 PM.
