Women's Golf Makes Up Ground At American Championship

BROOKSVILLE, Florida – The UNT women's golf team made up ground Tuesday in the second round of the 2026 American Championship.
The Mean Green Tuesday had the third-best score in the 11-team championship event, finishing the second round with a 294 (+6). It was a 12-stroke improvement from Monday and helped North Texas move up a couple spots on the leaderboard, ending the day in eighth place with a score of 600 (+24).
Malisone Chanthapanya once again paced UNT as she shot a 71 (-1) on Tuesday and will head into the final round on Wednesday in sixth place on the player leaderboard. The senior moved up 11 spots on Tuesday. Through two rounds Chanthapanya has shot a 145 (+1). She is seven strokes off the leader.
UNT's bounce back performance on Tuesday was ignited by Bouquet Subsomboon who after a tough first round where she shot a 79 (+7) rallied and took seven strokes off her score in round two. She shot a 72 (E) on Tuesday and took advantage of the par fives. Of the four par five holes on the Southern Hills course, Subsomboon shot a combined 3-under on them. Subsomboon is tied for 28th after Tuesday and moved up 17 spots with her score.
Katharina Anglett was substituted into the lineup Tuesday and had the Mean Green's third-best score for the day. She shot a 75 (+3). On the front nine Anglett was 3-under.
The three round event concludes Wednesday morning.
