Huber and Kuehne families to match up to $50,000; Former UNT football player Lance White to match up to $25,000
DENTON, Texas – As a part of the UNT Day of Giving on April 27, UNT athletics has announced the launch multiple challenges to support several initiatives within UNT Athletics.
Distinguished alumna Diann Huber and Ernie Kuehne have launched the Huber and Kuehne Families Men's Basketball Challenge while former UNT football player Lance White has agreed to match dollar-for-dollar to the football Green Lights Fund.
The Huber and Kuehne Family Challenge is a generous $50,000 gift where they will match every dollar contributed to the men's basketball Green Lights Fund. White, meanwhile, will match every gift contributed to the football Green Lights Fund up to $25,000. These substantial donations will effectively double the impact of each gift given on UNT Day of Giving.
These challenges will be run alongside the Mosley Family Challenge. Launched by Vice President and Athletic Director Jared Mosley earlier this month, he and his wife Trish will match up to $25,000 on UNT Day of Giving with $15,000 going to the Green Lights Fund and another $10,000 toward the Mean Green Scholarship Fund.
In addition to the challenges, each UNT sport program will compete in team challenges, where participation and giving can unlock prize dollars for their Green Lights Fund. Teams will have the opportunity to receive additional funds by winning these challenges: Highest number of unique donors, most total dollars raised and highest number of donors based on team size.

Huber holds multiple diplomas from UNT as she has a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction ('01) as well as a Master of Business Administration in Labor Relations ('76). Huber is the founder and president of iTeachU.S., offering educator preparation in multiple states throughout the country. She has also worked in the College of Education at UNT as a teaching fellow, lecturer, and Professional Development School Coordinator, as well as the ExCET Coordinator. Huber also is a member of the Kendall Society and has served on the UNT Foundation Board of Directors.
A 1966 graduate from North Texas, Kuehne was inducted into the UNT Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013. Kuehne received the Fred McCain award, which is giving to those who contribute to the advancement of the athletic department. He has also served on the UNT System Board of Regents and has contributed significantly to UNT Athletics, including over $3 Million toward the creation of the "Enrie Kuehne Practice Facility" on campus.
White is a former UNT football player who was a standout linebacker from 1983-86. A 1986 graduate from UNT, he was inducted into the UNT Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005. White was an All-Southland Conference selection in 1984 and 1986 and also named Honorable Mention All-America by the Associated Press. A member of the 1983 Southland Conference championship team and two-time defensive captain, White led North Texas in tackles in 1984 and 1985. He recorded a career-high 126 tackles in 1984 that still rank tied for the fifth-most in a single-season by a North Texas player.
The Green Lights Fund is a key component of UNT Athletics' strategic efforts to enhance support for student-athletes. It focuses on providing Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) and marketing opportunities, ensuring that UNT remains competitive in recruiting and retaining top talent. This initiative aligns with UNT's broader commitment to Building Champions and Preparing Leaders, as highlighted in the recent rebranding of the Mean Green Athletic Fund.
By participating in any of these challenges, or by simply giving to whatever group they feel most passionate about, supporters can directly fuel the continued success and growth of UNT Athletics.
