Mean Green Duo Ready For NCAA Waco Regional

WACO – Malisone Chanthapanya and Bouquet Subsomboon of the UNT women's golf team are set to begin play at the 2026 NCAA Women's Golf Waco Regional on Monday at the Ridgewood Country Club.
The Mean Green duo qualified for the NCAA Regionals as individuals and will both tee off at 9:40 AM CT.
The Event: The Ridgewood Country Club in Waco will play as a par 70 at 6,097 yards.
The Field: The NCAA committee selected 72 teams (including automatic qualifiers) and 36 individuals (including automatic qualifiers) not on those teams for participation at one of the six regional sites. Each regional site is comprised of 12 teams and six individuals (not on one of the selected teams). Five teams and the leading individual not on an advancing team from each regional site shall advance to the final site. Regional play will take place May 11-13 at six regional sites, and the national championship tournament will be held from May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Akers Says: "It is very exciting to have two players in the Regional field. Of course we would like the entire team here but Bouquet and Malisone performed at a very high level this year and deserved to be here."
"Fortunately, we played in the one-day tournament Baylor hosted back in October. I hope that experience will pay dividends for our two players this week. The course is playing different than in October so they will need to adjust during the practice round. Both Malisone and Bouquet have the ability to advance to the National Championship. It would be amazing to see one of them there."
