Seven Mean Green Programs Earn Perfect APR Score

DENTON – Seven UNT athletic programs earned a perfect single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score of 1,000 for the 2024-25 school year. Furthermore, nine of the 14 Mean Green programs maintained or improved their multi-year APR score.
North Texas women's tennis achieved a single-year APR score of 1,000 for the 15th straight year. It also marks the 11th straight year they achieved a multi-year score of 1,000.
The UNT men's track and field team earned its highest multi-year APR score in program history with a 981 surpassing the previous high of 976, which was set the year prior. Every season under director of track and field Doug Marshall the men's track and field team has set program records in multi-year APR score. Additionally, the men's track and field team achieved a single-year APR of 1,000 for the first time since 2006-07 while the men's cross country team also posted a perfect 1,000 APR.
The North Texas swimming and diving program also earned a perfect 1,000 APR score for the second time in the last three seasons under head coach Brittany Roth.
The UNT women's basketball program has also set program records in APR scores each season under head coach Jason Burton. The women's basketball team had a multi-year APR score of 1,000 surpassing its previous high of 995.
The Mean Green men and women's golf programs each achieved a single-year APR score of 1,000 for the sixth straight year. It marks the third year in a row they've had a perfect multi-year rate.
The Academic Progress Rate is an NCAA Division I metric that tracks the academic eligibility, retention, and graduation of student-athletes in real-time. It holds teams accountable for classroom performance, with a perfect score being 1,000. A rolling four-year average below 930 can result in penalties like scholarship losses or postseason bans.
As an athletic department UNT achieved an APR score of 978.
