Jackson Throws For 483 Yards In Road Loss

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) -- — Davian Jackson scored four touchdowns, including a 57-yarder late in the fourth quarter, to ensure Texas State's 49-35 win over North Texas for the Bobcats' first win of the season on Saturday.

Jackson, not finding any room inside, broke around the right side untouched for the game's final points with 3:07 remaining. Brad Jackson threw four touchdown passes, including a 13-yarder to Jackson midway through the fourth quarter for a 42-28 lead.

The Mean Green (1-2) had closed within seven on Tayven Jackson's 18-yard pass to Jahiem White with 5:24 to go.

The teams combined for 1,181 yards of offense and 84 points in an offensive shootout. North Texas finished with 576 yards, its first 500-yard offensive game of the season, while Texas State totaled 605 yards. The Bobcats had 337 rushing yards, led by Torrance Burgess Jr. with 214 on 25 carries and Davian Jackson's 77 yards on 10 carries with three rushing touchdowns. Brad Jackson was 16 of 22 passing for 268 yards.

North Texas' Tayven Jackson turned in a career performance, completing 43 of 57 passes for a career-high 483 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. His 43 completions also were a career high and the second-most in a single game by a North Texas quarterback. Jackson's 483 passing yards were the fifth-most in a game by a Mean Green quarterback.

Justin Stevenson also had a career day, setting career highs with 10 receptions for 122 yards. Jahiem White finished with 101 all-purpose yards, marking his third consecutive game with more than 100 all-purpose yards.

Texas State led 21-7 after one quarter, but North Texas matched the Bobcats' 21 points in the second quarter to send the game to halftime tied at 28.

Up next, North Texas will host Houston Christian next Saturday in Denton, while Texas State will host Incarnate Word.

Jahiem White rushed 15 times for 45 yards, an average of 3.0 yards per carry.
- White's first-half rushing touchdown was his third of the season and 17th of his career.
- White's fourth-quarter touchdown catch was his second receiving touchdown and fifth career touchdown. He now has five touchdowns this season and 21 in his career.
- White recorded 101 all-purpose yards, including 56 receiving and 45 rushing, giving him more than 100 all-purpose yards in three straight games.
Kyle Koch recorded his first career touchdown reception in the second quarter. It was also his first catch of the season.
- Koch finished with five receptions for 49 yards.
Brendon Haygood's second-quarter touchdown run was his second rushing touchdown of the season and second of his career.
- Haygood finished the game with a team best 50 yards rushing on 11 carries.
Tayven Jackson completed 43 of 57 passes for a career-high 483 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
- Jackson's 483 passing yards broke his previous career high of 299, set against Louisville at Indiana on Sept. 16.
- Jackson's 483 passing yards rank fifth in a single game by a UNT quarterback.
- Jackson's 43 completions were a career high and rank second in a single game by a UNT quarterback.
- His three touchdown passes were also a career high. He had thrown two touchdowns in a game six times previously.
- Jackson became the first UNT quarterback to throw for more than 400 yards in a game since Drew Mestemaker threw for 469 yards against Rice on Nov. 22, 2025.

- Jackson's third-quarter fumble was UNT's first lost fumble of the season.
Corri Milliner's seven receptions matched his career high. He also had seven receptions for 126 yards at Charlotte on Nov. 30, 2024, while at UAB.
- Milliner's second-quarter touchdown reception was his first of the season and seventh of his career.
Justin Stevenson set a career high with 10 receptions for 122 yards. His previous high was four receptions, set Nov. 23, 2025, against Boise State while he was at Utah.
- Stevenson became the first UNT player to record eight receptions in a game since Wyatt Young had eight receptions for 295 yards against Rice on Nov. 22, 2025.
- Stevenson was UNT's first 100-yard receiver of the season.
- Stevenson was the first UNT player with 10 or more receptions in a game since DT Sheffield had 11 receptions at FAU on Oct. 12, 2024.
Josiah Martin recorded four receptions for 73 yards. His 73 receiving yards were a career high.
Baron Tipton's five receptions for 58 yards were both single-game career highs.
Nine different UNT players caught at least one pass, a season high.
Texas State's Torrance Burgess Jr. became the first player to rush for 200 or more yards against UNT since UNLV's Aidan Robbins rushed for 227 yards on Sept. 17, 2022. Burgess Jr. rushed for 214 yards on 25 carries.
Texas State rushed for 337 yards, the most UNT has allowed since Army rushed for 387 yards last season.
Texas State finished with 605 yards of total offense, while UNT had 576.
Texas State's 605 yards marked the first time UNT had allowed 600 or more yards of offense since Memphis totaled exactly 600 yards on Oct. 28, 2023.
UNT's 576 yards marked its first 500-yard offensive game of the season.
