Volleyball Storms Back to Defeat East Texas A&M

DENTON, Texas – The UNT volleyball team overcame a 0-2 deficit to reverse sweep (20-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-10, 15-9) East Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon at the UNT Volleyball Center.
It marked the 17th reverse sweep in program history and first since Sept. 18, 2025, against LA Tech. With the win, North Texas improved to 7-4 as it heads into American Conference play next weekend.
"We just kept asking them to fight," head coach Dave Fleming said. "I think it's important to get punched in the nose and [show] you can still respond. Proud of the team for that."
After falling into a 0-2 hole, UNT dominated the final three sets as it outscored the Lions by a score of 65-37. The Mean Green compiled a season-high 71 kills on a .267 hitting percentage in addition to 13 service aces, their most since that same match against LA Tech last season.
On a day full of standout performances, outside hitter Lillian Croshaw led the offensive attack as she tied her career-high of 20 kills. The junior has found her groove over the past five matches, averaging 3.0 kills per set on a .367 hitting percentage in that span. Fellow outside hitters Jahniya Jackson and Reagan Bedell were not far behind with 15 and 13 kills, respectively.
Croshaw and Jackson capped their stellar weekends with selections to the UNT Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Alessandra Romo contributed five of UNT's 13 aces, marking the most of her career and highest total by a Mean Green player this season. Playing in just her third match of the season, Kennedy Cooper also provided a spark off the bench with four service aces of her own.
UNT's setter tandem of Sidney Soria and Olivia Branum combined for 65 assists to continue their productive seasons. Just a freshman, Branum completed the day with 11 digs alongside 26 assists for her team-leading fifth double-double of the year.
Having won four of its last five matches, North Texas opens the American Conference schedule next Friday at 6 p.m. against Florida Atlantic. The contest will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
