DENTON - The UNT soccer team will welcome an SEC power to Norma Knobel Hunt Stadium on Thursday night, as the Mean Green will host Oklahoma with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
The Mean Green (2-2-1) are coming off their first home loss of the season after dropping a 1-0 game to Air Force on Sunday night and will now face the Sooners, who enter the match 5-0-1 after drawing Oral Roberts on Sunday night to an identical 1-1 score as the Mean Green's match with ORU last week.
The game will feature two of the top goal scorers in the country a quarter of the way through the season, as UNT junior forward Claire Niedermeier is tied for 13th nationally with five goals, while OU's Kayla Keefer leads the nation with nine goals, though Keefer has played in one more match than Niedermeier.
UNT is also getting strong play from its defensive back line and fifth-year goalkeeper Sarah Margaret Seabrook, who had a career-high seven saves against Air Force on Sunday while allowing just the one goal. Last week, she was named the American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, while Niedermeier earned Offensive Player of the Week honors. Seabrook enters the match ranked 54th nationally in saves per game with 5.00 and has a save percentage of .806%, which are both good for third in the American.
