Mean Green set for 18-game league schedule
IRVING, Texas – The American Conference announced the conference slate for the 2026-27 men's basketball season Wednesday, completing the full schedule for the second season under UNT head coach Daniyal Robinson.
The Mean Green are set to play 18 league games, with nine at home and nine on the road, starting on Dec. 31 in Wichita, Kansas against Wichita State and culminating in a March 7 home matchup against Rice at the Super Pit.
After the trip to Kansas, the Mean Green play its first league home game on Jan. 6 against Florida Atlantic before making a quick trip to Houston to take on Rice on Jan. 10.
UNT will then return to Denton for three straight home games against Tulane (Jan. 14), Charlotte (Jan. 17) and Wichita State (Jan. 20).
On Jan. 23, North Texas heads to Tennessee to take on Memphis before traveling back to the Lone Star State for a matchup at UTSA on Jan. 28.
The month of January ends and February begins with back-to-back home matchups against Tulsa (Jan. 31) and Temple (Feb. 4).
From Feb. 11-March 2, North Texas will hit the road for five of its next seven conference contests with trips to UAB (Feb. 11), Tulsa (Feb. 14), Florida Atlantic (Feb. 21), South Florida (Feb. 24) and East Carolina (March 2).
Mixed within the time on the road at home games against Memphis on Feb. 17 and UTSA on Feb. 27.
The regular season concludes on March 7 with a contest at the Super Pit against Rice.
UNT is the lone school in the league to return an American All-Conference player from a season ago in junior guard Je'Shawn Stevenson who begins his second season in a North Texas uniform.
The non-conference schedule, previously announced in mid-September, begins on Nov. 2 against Southwest Christian and features nine games in Denton including highlight matchups against McNeese, Santa Clara and Winthrop.
