Jevaughn Codlin was hired as the safeties coach at North Texas in January of 2026.

Codlin joins the UNT staff after spending the 2025 season as an analyst/defensive line coach at Notre Dame, helping the Fighting Irish post a 10-2 overall record.

In his one season at Notre Dame, the Irish finished the season as the No. 12 scoring defense and the No. 11 rush defense in the nation. Codlin helped mentor DL Boubacar Traore who finished 22nd the nation in sacks per game.

One of the top young coaches in college football, Codlin was named to the 247Sports 30 Under 30 list prior to the 2025 season.

Upon arriving at Notre Dame, Codlin made his presence immediately felt on the recruiting trail. He played a major role in helping the Irish assemble the nation’s top defensive back class in the 2026 cycle, headlined by a pair of five-star prospects.

Prior to his time at Notre Dame, Codlin was on staff with Neal Brown at West Virginia in 2023 and 2024, serving as the assistant secondary coach in 2024 and a defensive graduate assistant in 2023.

With the Mountaineers, Codlin helped mentor All-American Beanie Bishop who led the nation in passes defended in 2023.

Codlin joined the WVU staff after spending the 2022 season as the assistant defensive backs coach at Division II Emporia State where he helped the Hornets post a 9-3 overall record and earn a win in the Farmers Bank & Trust UNITED Bowl.

A former defensive back, Codlin played at Kansas Wesleyan from 2016-19 where he ended his career with 145 tackles and 45 pass breakups. He also played in the Indoor Football League with the Spokane Shock, the Quad City Steamwheelers and the Bismarck Bucks.

Codlin received his Bachelor of Arts in Sports and Exercise Science in December of 2022.
