Lauren Cox was hired as the Director of Ops/Assistant Coach for the women's golf program in October 2024.
Cox came to UNT as a freshman in 2016, along with then-first-year head coach Michael Akers, and the two were at the forefront of turning the women's golf program from a team ranked outside the top 200 nationally into a consistent top-50 program year in and year out. By the time she wrapped up her collegiate career in 2021, Cox was far and away the greatest player in program history, leaving Denton with the single-season and career records for scoring average, birdies and par or better rounds. She also became the first player in program history to make first-team All Conference three times. She was also a WGCA All-American Scholar pick four times in her career.
Cox served as a volunteer assistant for two seasons while earning status on the LPGA Epson Tour, where she has carded 12 top-30 finishes in three seasons with a T14 showing in June at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship.
