Felton Whitlow helped lead the North Texas football team to Lone Star Conference championships in 1946 and 1947 and play in the first two bowl games in school history, the Optimist Bowl and Salad Bowl.

A member of the all-conference team both seasons, Whitlow was the first North Texas lineman to be named first team Little All-America.
