Softball Travels to Tarleton State, Hosts ECU

DENTON – Mean Green softball will open the week at Tarleton State at 6 p.m. Wednesday before returning to Lovelace Stadium for a three-game American Conference series versus East Carolina beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
All four games will be broadcast on ESPN+ as fans can purchase tickets HERE for the ECU series.
UNT (22-17, 11-4 American) remained tied atop the American Conference standings with South Florida after a 2-1 series victory over Florida Atlantic. The Mean Green and Bulls enter the weekend with a two-game lead on third placed Wichita State and are three games ahead of East Carolina (24-17, 8-7 American), FAU and UTSA.
Junior Madison Conley earned her second career American Conference Player of the Week honor Monday while D1Softball honored her with its Mid-Major Player of the Week on Tuesday. Over the past week, Conley led the nation with a 2.143 slugging percentage as she reached base safely in nine of 11 plate appearances and tallied a home run in each game with seven RBI and five runs scored.
Tarleton State (24-17, 3-3 WAC) won two of three games over Abilene Christian in its home conference series. The Texans tallied a pair of shutout victories before the Wildcats returned the favor with a 7-0 win in the series finale.
UNT leads the all-time series 5-2 over Tarleton State but are tied at 2-2 when visiting Tarleton Softball Complex. Last season, the Mean Green split the season series last year with a 4-0 home win and 6-3 road loss.
North Texas narrowly leads the series 4-3 over ECU after a three-set road sweep in Greenville, N.C. last season. No road team has ever won a game in series history.
The Pirates bounced back after it was swept at home by UAB on March 29, for a 2-1 series victory over Charlotte as Julia Apostolakos tossed a one-hit shutout.
