White Adds Assistant Coach From JUCO Ranks

DENTON – UNT head softball coach Cody White announced the hiring of new assistant coach Jenny Hoyt on Friday, after the highly successful junior college coach spent the past 12 seasons as the head coach at Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. There, she won more than 400 games, won four conference championships and coached 11 All-Americans.
"We are excited to welcome Jenny Hoyt to the North Texas family," White said. "Jenny is a proven winner that embodies passion, work ethic and a commitment to excellence that aligns with the culture we are building. Her experience, leadership and ability to build meaningful relationships make her an outstanding addition to our staff."
Prior to her time leading the Cowley program, she served as an assistant coach for the Tigers for four seasons before being elevated to head coach. Before heading to Cowley, she spent one season as an assistant coach at Mars Hill University in Asheville, North Carolina.
As a head coach, Hoyt has amassed a 416-208 record, and as an assistant coach at Cowley, she was part of the staff under former head coach Ed Hargrove that was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association NJCAA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2013.
Hoyt was named the Jayhawk East Coach of the Year in 2017, 2023 and 2025 and won the conference championship in 2017, 2018, 2023 and 2025. She led the Tigers to 40 or more wins four times in her tenure as head coach.
As a player, Hoyt spent two seasons at Cowley College before finishing her career at Mars Hill. As a sophomore at Cowley, she was an all-region performer at third base and hit .341 with 28 RBIs.
