Marginas Earns 2002 Academic All-District Honors

A standout outside hitter on the North Texas volleyball team, Corina Marginas (Brasov, Romania) has been named to the first-team Verizon Academic All-District VI volleyball team for the second consecutive year.
Marginas was one of six players named to the first team and has a chance to earn Verizon Academic All-America honors, which will be announced Thursday, December 5. The team was selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America from District VI (District VI includes all NCAA Division I schools from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas).
A two-time All-Sun Belt Conference First Team selection, Marginas carries a 3.9 GPA. The 6-0 junior leads the Sun Belt Conference in kills (491) and kills per game (4.81 average) this season and has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week twice. Marginas was the 2000 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and has built up a school-record 1,541 career kills. Not only was she was the fastest player in school history to reach 500 and 1,000 kills, she is the only player at North Texas to ever surpass 1,500 kills for a career.
Marginas registered a Sun Belt Conference high 36 kills against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 14 She leads the league in 20-kill matches with 11 to her credit, is ranked seventh in hitting percentage (.290) and eighth in service aces (0.40 per game). After almost a full three seasons, she holds three of the top four spots at North Texas for kills in a season (No. 1, No. 3, No. 4) and six of the top 10 records for kills in a single match. With 841 career digs, Marginas needs just 34 more to break the school record.
