Shaddix joins the Mean Green as assistant coach and director of operations
DENTON – UNT volleyball and head coach Dave Fleming announced the addition of assistant coach Emma Shaddix to the staff on Tuesday. Shaddix will serve as Director of Volleyball Operations and will help with the team's outside and right-side hitters.
"I am excited to welcome Emma to North Texas," Fleming said. "She has a great mind for the game and will be an important piece of our team not only on the court but in building meaningful connections with our student-athletes."
Prior to her arrival in Denton, Shaddix was an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Seattle Pacific University for two seasons under head coach Jason Rhine. The Falcons totaled 22 wins over her two seasons at SPU.
"Joining the Mean Green family was an opportunity that I could not pass up," Shaddix said. "I am incredibly grateful to Coach Fleming and his staff for welcoming me to Denton. My journey has prepared me for this moment, and I look forward to passing along the lessons I have learned to our players. I can't wait to get started and help this program continue to grow."
Shaddix began her collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant under Fleming at Colorado Mesa in spring 2024 after playing her final season with the Mavericks in fall 2023.
In her final collegiate season at Colorado Mesa, Shaddix was named second team all-conference in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference after she finished with 208 kills while hitting .311 in 26 matches.
She played her first four seasons at Florida Southern College where she competed in both court and beach. From 2019-22, Shaddix tallied 332 kills, 115 blocks and 425.5 total points over 66 career matches in indoor competition with the Mocs after she utilized a redshirt season in 2018.
As a senior, Shaddix helped Florida Southern qualify for the 2022 NCAA Division II Tournament as the No. 7 seed in the South Region. Additionally, she earned selection to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2021.
Shaddix is a native of Jupiter, Fla., and graduated from Jupiter Christian School in 2018.
