Mean Green Suffer 84-58 Setback At No. 19 Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (12/1/02) The North Texas men’s basketball team (1-2) dropped an 84-58 decision to No. 19 Indiana (4-0) Sunday afternoon in front of a crowd of 13,809 at Assembly Hall.
North Texas trailed just 27-33 at halftime and was able to keep the Hoosiers lead to single digits up to the 12:05 mark of the second half. However, Indiana hit four of its nine three-pointers during a 17-2 run over the next four minutes that gave the Hoosiers a 66-42 advantage with 8:05 remaining in the contest.
Jermaine Green led North Texas with 17 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of his career. Senior guard Chris Davis was the only other North Texas player to register double-figure points with 12.
North Texas gave up just two more rebounds to Indiana, but shot 34 percent in comparison to Indiana’s 47 percent.
Bracey Wright, a freshman from The Colony, Tex., scored 21 points to lead three Indiana players scoring in double figures.
The Mean Green will face Weber State in the first round of the Winthrop Tournament this Friday.
