Mean Green Volleyball Drops Final Two Matches At Bobcat Classic

SAN MARCOS, Tex. (8/31/02) The North Texas women’s volleyball team dropped its final two matches of the Bobcat Classic on Saturday, falling 1-3 against both Mississippi State and Southern Illinois.
The Mean Green couldn’t get much going against Mississippi State early, losing the matches first two games by scores of 14-30 and 28-30. North Texas won the third game 30-23, but MSU rallied to win the fourth game 30-25.
In its second match of the day, UNT went into the break with Southern Illinois tied 1-1. The Salukis won the first game 25-30, while the Mean Green captured a 30-23 game-two victory. SIU would finish strong however, winning the matches final two games by scores of 30-24 and 30-28, respectively.
North Texas’ lone victory of the tournament came yesterday against Air Force, 3-0.
UNT stays on the road tomorrow, facing UT-San Antonio in a 2 p.m. match.
