Mean Green Basketball Signs Calvin Watson

DENTON - The North Texas men’s basketball team has signed Calvin Watson, a 6-5 guard out of Houston-Madison High School, to a national letter of intent during the early signing period.

Watson, still with his senior season ahead of him with the Marlins, joins Mike Jones as the second recruit to sign with the Mean Green during the early signing period.

Watson was named the District 17-5A Newcomer of the Year as a junior and helped lead Houston-Madison to the second round of the playoffs last year. He was a first-team all district selection last season and Texas Hoops places him among the top 40 players in the state. As a junior, Watson averaged 19.5 points, five rebounds, five steals and four blocks per game.

"With Calvin’s ability he will have an opportunity to make an impact on our program immediately," said North Texas head coach Johnny Jones. "His size and versatility will allow him to play multiple positions. We are excited to have Calvin as part of our Mean Green family."
