Gauthier Paces North Texas At Susie Maxwell Berning Classic

NORMAN, Okla. (4/8/03)-- Senior golfer Randi Gauthier led the way for North Texas as she fired a final round 78 in blustery conditions at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic held at the Jimmie Austin Golf Course. Gauthier finished tied for 12th overall with three-round total of 237.

In what proved to be the most difficult day of the tournament the Lady Eagles ended the tournament in 10th place out of 16 teams with a three-day total of 991. The host school Oklahoma was crowned the tournament champion.

Sophomore Laura Rakel fired a final round 84 to finish at 248 while freshman Andra Lancaster also shot a final round 84 to end one stroke behind Rakel at 249 for the tournament.

North Texas will now gear up for the Sun Belt Conference Championship which will be held April 21-23 at the Bluewater Bay Golf Club in Niceville, Florida.
