Mean Green Volleyball Falls 3-1 At Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. (9/23/03) The North Texas volleyball team (9-8) suffered a 3-1 (30-28, 27-30, 27-30, 26-30) setback Tuesday night at Louisiana Tech (10-5) in its final match before starting Sun Belt Conference play this Friday.
The match lasted just over two hours as no more than four points decided each game. The Mean Green jumped on top early with a two-point victory in game one, but Louisiana Tech bounced back to win the matches next three games.
After hitting below .200 in the first three games, North Texas got on track offensively in the fourth game with a .310 attack percentage. However, Louisiana Tech posted its best attack percentage of the contest in the third game as well, hitting .354.
Despite getting 21 kills from senior outside hitter Corina Marginas, the Mean Green couldn’t counter Louisiana Tech’s offensive attack. The Lady Techsters’ hit .214 and recorded 71 kills, including 20 from both Megan Rush and Christine Sant’Anna. North Texas hit just .168 and finished with 51 total kills. Marginas was the only Mean Green player with double-figure kills.
North Texas will host Middle Tennessee on Friday at 7 p.m. in its first Sun Belt Conference match of the season.
