Mean Green Sweeps Louisiana-Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. (11/12/04) -- The North Texas volleyball team (7-21, 6-8) picked up a 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-23) victory over Louisiana-Lafayette (7-22, 3-11) Friday night at Earl K. Long Gym in a Sun Belt Conference West Division match.
North Texas swept the season series against ULL, also defeating the Ragin’ Cajuns 3-0 earlier this season at the Snake Pit. The Mean Green has now pulled off a season sweep over a Sun Belt West Division opponent 10 times in the last three seasons.
North Texas hit at least .200 in the first two games and finished the match with a .192 attack percentage, while holding the Ragin’ Cajuns to just .033 hitting. NT recorded 18 more kills, 17 more assists and seven more digs than UL Lafayette.
The Mean Green recorded its fourth 3-0 victory of the season and has now swept 31 opponents in the last five seasons under head coach Cassie Headrick.
Brittney Gregory led the North Texas attack with a match-high 14 kills, marking the 17th time this season she has reached double-figure kills in a match. Taylor Lawrence followed Gregory with nine kills and narrowly missed her second double-double of the year with team-high 10 digs.
The Mean Green will wrap up regular-season play on Sunday, hosting Western Kentucky at 1 p.m. North Texas is currently the No. 8 seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament, set for Nov. 18-20 in New Orleans.
