Mean Green Wins 23rd Straight Sun Belt Victory

The Ragin’ Cajuns (4-5, 2-3) came back from a 14-0 first quarter deficit, but
Thomas finished the game with 203 rushing yards, giving him the NCAA Division I-A record for most 200-yard games as a freshman with five (breaking the record of four by Herschel Walker of
Senior quarterback Scott Hall rushed for his first touchdown of the season when he took it in from one-yard out after Walter Priestley forced a fumble on UL Lafayette’s next drive. Hall was 9-of-15 in the game.
Louisiana-Lafayette controlled most of the second quarter and added a touchdown before the half to make the score, 17-10. The Ragin’ Cajuns would bring the score within three, 20-17, at the start of the fourth quarter before Thomas ran in for the long touchdown to halt the home team’s momentum.
Junior Nick Bazaldua helped out the offense with two field goals, extending his streak to eight straight attempts without a miss.
Phillip Graves led the defense with nine solo tackles.
