The North Texas men's and women's basketball teams are both in action on Saturday night. The North Texas men (3-3) will play its second consecutive game on the road when it faces Texas-Pan American at UTPA Field House at 7 pm on Saturday night. North Texas, which played its first two road games against nationally-ranked Alabama and Texas, will be looking for its first victory away from the Super Pit this season.
North Texas defeated UT-Pan American twice last season to bring its all-time record against the Broncos to 7-13. The Mean Green lost its firrst eight games against UTPA, but has won seven of the last 12 meetings. The last time the Broncs defeated North Texas was Jan. 8, 1996, which was the last meeting before the 2003-04 season. The 2004-05 season actually marks the first time in the history of the series that North Texas and Texas-Pan American have not played twice in a season when they were on each other’s schedules.
The North Texas women (3-3) continue its three-game homestand with a battle against Louisiana-Monroe. The Mean Green is 2-0 at home this season and are coming off a 72-41 win over Hampton on Wednesday night. North Texas looks to get above the .500 mark for the third time this season with a win over the Indians. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 1996. The Indians hold a one-sided series lead at 23-3. Louisiana-Monroe won the first 22 meetings against North Texas but the Mean Green has won 3 of the last four match-ups.
